MEET THE FOUNDER

MY Story

Dr. Nekia Staley-Neither is a native Washingtonian. She is a very dedicated mother of four beautiful daughters and two sons. She grew up with a love of caring for others and has been involved with the special needs community since her elementary years.

Dr. Nekia, as she is affectionately called, began her studies at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA as a Pre-Med Biology major. While there, she volunteered at the Hospital for Sick Children and continued to be of service to people living in shelters. After choosing a career in dentistry, she attended and graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery. Continuing her philosophy to provide care to persons of all backgrounds, Dr. Nekia became a DECOD (Dental Education in the Care of Persons with Disabilities) fellow at the University of Washington at Seattle. There she trained to treat and accommodate mentally and physically challenged persons. Dr. Nekia has owned and operated three Dental practices in Prince George’s County Maryland since entering private practice in 2004. She has been committed to serving her immediate and local community. While successfully owning several practices, Dr. Nekia has provided oral health services to countless Prince Georgians and provided employment opportunities to its residents as well.

Dr. Nekia has expanded her business management and entrepreneurial skills. She has continuously studied and been coached by the most renowned in Dentistry, including MGE Management, Next Level Practice Management, and Delivering Wow. She has also expanded her clinical skills to include oral and implant surgery, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, sleep apnea and airway management, and Botox and dermal filler therapy. In 2017, her passion for working and providing services for the special needs community led her to formally establish her non-profit organization, Special Care for Special Needs Dentistry. This organization was established to meet the needs of patients with special needs by providing mobile services, educating and supporting caregivers, and raising awareness of the oral health needs and disparities of this community.

Through the SCSND organization, Dr. Nekia hosts an annual community day health fair that provides free dental and auxiliary health care services for the community. Additionally, she provides mobile dental services monthly to the day program at the Arc of Prince George’s.

Dr. Nekia also partners with nursing homes and assisted living and group home facilities to provide on-site mobile services. In 2020, Dr. Nekia partnered with Urgent Mobile Dental Care to expand and provide on-site dental services to the Atlanta metro area where she is also a licensed dentist. Not only does she treat patients in the Atlanta area, but she also provides teledental and clinical advisory services. Dr. Nekia is a member of the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, and the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics. Dr. Nekia is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Prince George’s County Alumni Chapter. There she contributes her services and talents to the Membership Services Committee.

Dr. Nekia is a proud Board member of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce Health Equity Committee. She truly has a desire to better service those in her community as a healthcare provider and small business owner. You can also find Dr. Nekia participating, sponsoring, and serving in various health fairs, dental fairs, and other community service projects in the Washington Metropolitan area.
